Starting May 21, and continuing for a week, the annual “Park Avenue Tulip Dig” takes place on the medians between 54th and 86th streets. “Bring your trowels,” instructs The Fund for Park Avenue. “When digging up the bulbs, do not take any soil and do not cut off the leaves. Bulbs should be stored in a dry place until the leaves have turned brittle. They can be replanted in October or November in personal and community gardens.”
