Emily Smith, the crackerjack self-effacing editor of the Page Six column, and Paul Deleon, the crackerjack self-effacing financial whiz who has been her fiancé for several years, are expecting the stork to visit before the frost is on the pumpkin, ORB “can exclusively reveal”, in Emily’s immortal phrase.
The British-born journalist took the helm of the city’s most widely read gossip column in 2010, when Richard Johnson stepped aside after 25 years to help with a News Corp startup. Before joining the NY Post, Ms. Smith was U.S. editor of The Sun, the English tabloid also owned by Rupert Murdoch.
Emily is respected for the accuracy of her stories and for her diligence—she gets to work early and is often the last to leave the office. She files copy all night.
Orbmagazine, based in the South Bronx, feels connected to this Blessed Event. Deleon’s parents live in The Bronx and he and Emily often celebrate family occasions with them on glorious Arthur Avenue. We’re hoping they move to The Bronx to be closer to some willing babysitters—and that includes us.
