A Denver company which builds custom props and sets for haunted houses and amusement parks is moving to South Carolina because of problems that have ensued since Colorado voters legalized recreational use of marijuana two years ago.
Marc Brawner, the owner of Little Spider Creations for 24 years, said, “Marijuana got into our industry. Half of the sculptors will come in high. As soon as we’d catch it, they’d be let go. We went through 25 sculptors. Only five of our sculptors either were quality or would show up unimpaired.”
Brawner told 10News, a Gannett TV station, that it was a difficult decision since he’s a native Coloradan and the company had 47 employees, but “you could definitely see the difference in employees’ work when they were high—they were not as productive and had an ‘it’s good enough’ attitude.”
